ITTF - Current update

Since 27 May 2007 the ITTF equipment comitee has suspended the approval of glue containing volatile  solvents. This means that the ITTF do not grant the approval for any kind of rubber glue anymore. This does not only concern all kinds of presently available speed glue but also any kind of „booster“.

In order to comply with the ITTF rules ever after 1 September 2008 a table tennis bat (blade and rubbers) has to pass the test carried out with the ENEZ device (green light). In addition the rubber may not exceed a total thickness of 4 mm (strict frequent controls are carried out).

Also, the ITTF states that after their approvel rubbers may not be be changed in shape or characteristics anymore. Using earlier glue containing volatile solvents or today’s „Boosters“ changes the rubber’s dimensions and total thickness.

In view of the change of the rubber characteristics the ITTF now appeal to the industry to refrain from offering boosters and rubbers that were retrospectively „tuned“.
